Pricing
What is the price of a kitten?
Each kitten will be individually priced according to sex, color, markings, and characteristics (folded ears and/or munchkin legs). Because these are not known until kittens are born, we are unable to give exact pricing until 3-4 weeks after birth, when ears fold. MiniFolds has transparent pricing guidelines as follows:
- Straight Nonstandard kitten (Regular ears, regular legs): $500 – $800
- Fold kitten: $1,500 – $2,200
- Munchkin kitten: $1,800 – $2,300
- Munchkin Fold kitten: $3,000 – $3,500
What is covered in the base price?
All our kittens will come with their first set of shots, first deworming, and a veterinary health certificate. Additionally, kittens will come litter-trained and with a small bag of food to help with transitioning them to a new home. Our ‘New Kitten Packet’ for you will include all the info you need to successfully transition your kitten into your family! Other great new kitten goodies are available for purchase directly in our site too! We highly recommend purchasing through our shop to support our small business and ensure you are buying safe, high-quality goods for your new baby kitten.
What payment forms do you accept?
We accept Visa, Discover, and Mastercard payments via PayPal or Stripe. If you have questions or concerns about payment methods, please reach out to us.
Why is there a deposit? Why is it nonrefundable?
Deposits are requested as a way to confirm a customer is serious about purchasing a kitten with us. The deposit goes toward the full price of the kitten, and helps us with the upfront cost of raising your kitten with the utmost care. Costs that we encounter before you receive your kitten include veterinary care, vaccines, deworming, food, litter, etc. Having reservations and deposits greatly helps us continue our business and provide you with happy kittens.
We cannot guarantee any specific kitten characteristics in upcoming litters; deposits will not be refunded due to preferences. By submitting a deposit, you are acknowledging you’ve read our contract and are aware of our kitten prices. Deposits will not be refunded due to household / finance / circumstance / decision changes, allergies, or length of time on waitlist due to deferral.
Adoption Process
What is the process of purchasing a kitten from miniFolds?
If kittens are listed on our site as available for purchase, they have not been chosen or reserved by anyone on the waitlist. You may purchase these kittens by submitting a contract and nonrefundable deposit. All purchase requests are considered in the order they are received.
After submitting the contract and deposit, we will contact you to confirm all details of your purchase and discuss timing for pickup or shipment. If for any reason you change your mind about purchasing, the deposit is nonrefundable but can go towards a different kitten or future litter.
Kittens will be kept with their mother until they are ready to be sent to a new home, usually around 12-16 weeks. Once kittens are weaned, have gotten their first shots, dewormed, litter trained, and certified healthy by a veterinarian, they will be ready to go to your loving home.
When your kitten is ready, we are able to meet you in person in the Portland, Oregon area or plan a shipping process if needed. We are able to deliver kittens for an additional fee (not included in base price). We ‘ship’ our kittens by bringing them in a plane cabin with a nanny instead of shipping via cargo. Domestic shipping starts around $400 depending on location.
Do you ship kittens? Is it safe?
We are able to deliver kittens for an additional fee (not included in base price). We ‘ship’ our kittens by bringing them in a plane cabin with a nanny. This is much safer and more humane than shipping via cargo. Domestic shipping starts around $400 depending on location. Please contact us to get specific pricing for your location.
What type of kittens will be born?
Before birth, we won’t know exactly what specific characteristics each kitten will be, but we will know the expected number of kittens. The kittens available will most likely be of similar colors to the Dam and Sire, and previous kittens. Litters average three to seven kittens. Munchkin characteristics are known upon birth. Scottish fold characteristics are known at 4-5 weeks of age. Eye color is known at 5-9 weeks of age.
Kitten Health
Can I use my new kitten for breeding?
Under our standard reservation agreement, breeding rights are NOT included. If you are interested in breeding your kitten, there is an additional fee for breeding rights. By purchasing breeding rights, an owner assumes all liability for the health and welfare of your offspring. As per the adoption contract, verification of having your kitten spayed or neutered must be sent to MiniFolds by seven months of age. Failure to do so will result in an additional charge for breeding rights. If you are interested in purchasing a kitten for breeding, please contact us to discuss.
What is the miniFold health guarantee?
MiniFolds kittens are free of any and all genetic defects, malformations, and sickness at time of sale. Kittens are veterinarian-verified healthy before release to new owner. We guarantee against genetic malformations for 180 days. New owner has 7 days to take kitten to veterinarian to verify health. If kitten is not verified as healthy, owner has 72 hours to contact miniFolds with a veterinarian note in order to exchange for equal value or return kitten and be added to our waitlist. If new owner returns a kitten, written reasoning of genetic or permanent health issues must be provided by veterinarian. Failure to have kitten examined within 7 days of receipt will void all health guarantees. If kitten is introduced to other animals before veterinarian health verification, all guarantees are void as MiniFolds is not responsible for transmittable diseases, injury or death caused by other animals or humans of and/or outside of the household of new owner. All sales final 14 days after receipt of kitten.
What vaccines and veterinary care come with my kitten?
Upon release at 12-16 weeks of age, as readiness to part from mother will be determined by breeder, kitten will have received initial vaccines, deworming, and veterinary checkups to ensure kitten is healthy and free from genetic defects, malformations and sickness. Individualized vaccine records and schedules will be given to every new owner for their new kitten.
What vaccines are the owner's responsibility?
Kittens will have received initial vaccines, but more will be needed as the kitten grows older. Owner agree to complete the vaccination schedule with their veterinarian to receive protection from disease. All guarantees are null and void if vaccinations are not completed by owner.
Owner acknowledges and pledges responsibility of the lifelong care needs of a cat including yearly vaccines, monthly flea and heartworm prevention, and other veterinary care possibly needed throughout cat’s life. Recommendations for all veterinary care will be provided in New Owner Packet.
Will the kitten come spayed or neutered?
Kittens do not come spayed or neutered. As per our contract, kittens must be spayed or neutered by seven months of age. Verification must be sent to Minifolds; failure to do so will result in an additional charge for breeding rights regardless of your intention to breed or not. Costs to spay or neuter is full responsibility of owner. Spayed and neutered pets have fewer behavioral and health problems.
